 | Navajo silver platero parure A stunning and unusual Native American sterling silver necklace set with bear claws, Sleeping Beauty turquoise and red branch coral cabochons. Each element has been hand set, and the striking design is enhanced with abstracted blossoms, leaves and feathers.
All the shapes have been constructed from cast, stamped and chased silver elements whcih have been soldered together, not moulded. A very tradional Navajo shape, signed 'TD' and marked sterling.
We have been told that the bear claws used in this design were found in a cave and were from a young bear that had died of natural causes.
The necklace is adjustable, and fastens with a hook clasp. The matching drop earrings have a French post and butterfly back.
Necklace, 49.5cms. earrings, 5cm drop.
Mint condition, never worn. Purchased from the Navajo in the US in 1988, made a few years earlier.
