Three cut steel effect buttons from the early Victorian period. True cut steel though cheaper than gemstones, was very expensive tomake, so from this period, jewellery and accessories began to be cast from steel and then riveted to the base plate afterwards.

Chased Silver Chatelaine Clip


Stamped and engraved chatelaine clip designed tthread onto a belt. The loop springs open so that the clip may be used as a keyring or to suspend pretty or useful things from it.

Chatelaines were worn by many housekeepers in the 19th century and before that, by Anglo Saxon women.

The chatelaine was designed to keep handy all the keys and tools necessary for the woman of the household - scissors, notebook, needles and often a little notebook.

Unmarked sterling silver, near mint condition, some minor scratches and marks

Victorian paste buckle


Victorian sash or belt buckle studded with hand cut glass paste. Garlands of stones surround simple leaf and bud shapes and are anchored by large 'daisies'. Paste stones are pave set or held in millgrain cups.

Unsigned and unmarked but appears to be sterling silver with base metal fittings. In near mint condition, a few slightly darkened stones and some tarnishing and wear to the metal claws. The claw fastening of the buckle is strong and secure, and we advise that when mounted on a belt or ribbon eyelets are used to avoid tearing the fabric.
