| Afgan Princess Collar - Troy film wardrobe Massive and striking white metal tribal breastplate necklace with applied and chased brass decoration and taselled octagonal Indian coins. The necklace is further enhanced with applied decorative bosses, further silver tassels and most unusually of all is suspended from a long wire loop and hung on a knitted wire collar.
Aside from a few loose wires in the knitted part - which lies smooth and without kinks when worn, this is in remarkable condition.
This is a rare tribal necklace with a wonderful patina - and is also a piece of film wardrobe used in the recent film Troy. Sorry we are not permitted to give written provenance from the costume dept, watch the film and you might see it on screen! It was purchased in 2004 from a market in Afghanistan, but we are unsure of where exactly it was made - it's tribal!
The attached coins date from 1959 - 1964, and the necklace is believed to date from the mid sixties. Most parts of this necklace have some silver content.

| 'Egyptian' Art Deco Lavalier necklace In the 1920's the discovery of the Tomb of King Tutenkamun created a craze for Egyptian inspired design. We believe this intricate necklace is a little earlier. It is as much inspired by the possiblities of new components and the liberation in dress and ideas of the aesthetic movement as by the past, and as such is an important peice of design history.
Brass links and filigree panels act as a foil for marbled glass 'peking jade' and tiny emerald coloured glass beads. The dramatic linked cascades are charming and move as you do.
Circa 1910, near mint condtion, light patina to metal.
