 | Victorian paste buckle Victorian sash or belt buckle studded with hand cut glass paste. Garlands of stones surround simple leaf and bud shapes and are anchored by large 'daisies'. Paste stones are pave set or held in millgrain cups.
Unsigned and unmarked but appears to be sterling silver with base metal fittings. In near mint condition, a few slightly darkened stones and some tarnishing and wear to the metal claws. The claw fastening of the buckle is strong and secure, and we advise that when mounted on a belt or ribbon eyelets are used to avoid tearing the fabric.

Edwardian ladies would accentuate their corseted waists with wide sashes or ribbons, often in quite bright colours. These lengths of satin or petersham would be held in place with wide buckles or a large brooch like this.
Beautiful raised stamped leaf and flower detailing creats a ornate design accentuated by a large central emerald green glass faceted stone. Unmarked but undoubtedly of Czech manufacture. Old-fashioned C-clasp fastening.
This item is in remarkable near mint condtion, with minor wear to the gilding on the reverse.
